From 7 to 11 December 2022, Anna Dimitrova, Professor of International Business at ESSCA and member of the EU*Asia Institute, attended the annual conference of the European International Business Academy (EIBA) in Oslo. At this conference, her co-authored paper with Nathalie Belhoste on firm non-market strategies in a war-active zone was awarded the “Best Paper” prize in the track “Institutions, Policy and Economic Geography”.

The same paper was nominated among the top 5 for the ABS4 Global Strategy Journal (GSJ) Best Paper Award.

These awards recognise the quality of research at the highest European and global levels.

 

Camila Villard Duran – Roberto Campos Excellence Prize

Liberalization of capital movements and the institutional challenges for Brazil joining the organisation for economic co-operation and development (OECD).

Camila Villard Duran, Associate Professor of International Law at ESSCA and member of the EU*Asia Institute, has just won the Roberto Campos Excellence Prize second place for her article co-authored with Daniel Steinberg. The article was published in 2021 in the Brazilian business magazine “Revista Tempo do Mundo”, which is published by the Finance Minister’s think tank – IPEA.

This article is an extended policy brief designed to guide Brazil’s accession to the OECD and the Codes of Liberalization of Capital Movements, including necessary diplomatic measures and legal changes in exchange rate policies. It includes a detailed analysis of the Brazilian economic bureaucracy (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Brazilian Central Bank), exchange rate rules, and Brazil’s unique position in the hierarchy of the international monetary system.
