The current events in Catalonia are, of course, a highly emotional topic for many Spanish citizens. And a minefield for political analysts: whatever you write about it, you may be sure to be misunderstood, or worse.
Our friend Miguel Otero Iglesias, associate researcher at the EU-Asia Institute and former ESSCA professor, is both a Spanish citizen and a political analyst at the Royal Elcano Institute in Madrid. Over many months, he has preferred not to address the issue in writing, but last week, he broke his silence with an article trilogy on the “Medium” platform.
For those who want to have a better understanding of the Catalan deadlock, what led to it and what could come out of it, this is a well-balanced, very enlightening triple-piece:
- Part 1: On the Brink
- Part 2: Nationalism vs Cultural Diversity
- Part 3: A Solution
