With this Jean Monnet Chair, the field of European Studies at ESSCA will benefit from brand new opportunities, both through research within the school and through new courses and events that will be developed over the next three years.

The Teaching and Research in European Studies project (TRES), whose development is made possible by the selective Jean Monnet Chair of the Erasmus+ programme, will open up new perspectives closely linked to the core subjects of the EU*Asia Institute: European Studies and EU-Asia Relations.

This project, supported by Cap Europe of the University of Angers, aims at publishing the Routledge Encyclopaedia for European Studies, a major work edited by Chair Holder Prof. Thomas Hoerber and four other lead editors: Prof. Ben Leruth (University of Groningen), Prof. Maxine David (Leiden University), Prof. Birol Yesilada (Portland State University) and Prof. Stéphanie Laulhé Shaelou (Lancaster University, Cyprus).
This volume will have a significant impact on the field of European Studies in its broadest sense while allowing the creation of new courses for ESSCA students of different classes.

TRES will also allow for the development of an annual summer school that will bring together scholars, students and alumni around the theme of European Studies.
